You're shipping a container
But the container isn't full. You could ship it anyway, but that means you'll be paying to transport air. A waste of money, fuel and pollution. Why not sell the extra space to another shipper on the same route?
You're shipping a smaller amount
You could ship an expensive LCL (less than container load). Or you could buy space in someone else's larger container for a better price!

Save money on freight, make money from empty space and save the environment.
Buy and Sell spare space in containers travelling on the same route. We match spare supply and demand to make shipping more efficient, saving the environment and saving you money.

FAQ

Answers to your questions

Are you a freight forwarder/I already have a freight forwarder.
No, we are not freight forwarders. We provide a platform to match shipments together that are travelling the same route.

For freight forwarding duties, you will still use your current freight forwarder or the forwarder used by the main shipper of your container.
What's included in the price quoted?
This depends on the shipment. It will be listed in the 'Other Info' section, and can be clarified by asking questions to the shipment seller before or after reserving the space.
What if the other shipper has his goods held up in customs, meaning mine get held up too?
Customs clearance will be dealt with by the container space seller/their professional freight forwarder.

We've integrated an HS Code finder guide and make shipping stages/requirements very clear to all parties to make sure shipments clear customs cleanly.

We also have a feedback system designed to identify buyers and sellers who are competent in this area and to increase accountability.
What if the other products damage my products or vice versa?
Containers/routes are listed by the company who is shipping them. 'Type of goods' is listed and when other companies request to reserve the extra space they are asked to disclose the type of their goods, how they're packaged and their weight. The request is then reviewed, and either accepted or rejected based on whether the goods are suitable to be shipped together.

Empty space also increases damages, so joining onto a near-full shipment will likely be better than joining in on many different products (LCL) all packed together. The more mismatched the shipment, the higher the likelihood of damages.

How does our shipment get stuffed and destuffed from containers? What's the cost?
Details on this will be made clear on the container space listing by the seller. This can be discussed with the seller before or after reserving the shipment.
Who manages customs clearance?
This is done by the container space seller/their freight forwarder. Please discuss what the quoted price includes with the seller to avoid unexpected bills.
Who manages the documents?
This is done by the container space seller/their freight forwarder. You will need to provide them with a commercial invoice for your goods.
Who deals with forward delivery?
Details on this will be made clear on the container space listing. This can be discussed before or after reserving the shipment.
Who pays duty and VAT?
Details on this will be made clear on the container space listing. This can be discussed before or after reserving the shipment. Often the freight forwarder will pay this and you will be required to reimburse them for it immediately.
Do I need insurance?
The Carriage of Goods Act does give you protection against carriers' liability, but you should also discuss transit insurance with the carrier and your usual insurer to make sure you are covered to the level you require.
What if a buyer takes his goods and will not release payment?
Payments are held in Escrow until both parties agree that the shipment has been completed satisfactorily. Refunds on money in Escrow will not be issued until a dispute has been opened and resolved by parties contacting AirFCL customer services.

In the case of a dispute, please contact support. Do not close workflows relating to disputed shipments, or money in Escrow will be released.

We also have a feedback system designed to identify buyers and sellers who are competent in this area and to increase accountability.
Is my bank/payment information safe with you?
Your details are securely stored with our PCI DSS compliant payment processing partner using an HTTPS protocol.

We also employ a Comodo SSL certificate to encrypt data.
